Posted on 10 June 2019 by Erik van Hoorn

The Gaming in Holland 2019 conference, which took place in Amsterdam on 5-6 June 2019, hosted, among others, the chairman of the Gambling Authority who shed more light on the latest online gambling (regulatory) developments and included panels featuring our partner Justin Franssen and gaming lawyer Alan Littler.

René Jansen, chairman of the Gambling Authority, kicked off the conference with a speech in which he addressed topics such as the interpretation of the Postema motion (cooling-off period) and the criteria regarding the licence application procedure. The complete speech of René Jansen titled ‘Looking forward to KOA’ can be watched in the video below:

The speech of René Jansen was followed by a brief update presented by Dennis van Breemen, Head of Integrity and Gambling Policy at the Ministry of Justice and Security. He provided insight on when to expect the final version of the remote games of chance decree and the draft ministerial regulation to the remote gambling bill. Please find the full speech of Dennis van Breemen titled ‘Remote Gaming Q&A: An update from the Ministry of Justice and Security’ below:

The conference proceeded by accommodating for several panels on matters including:

  • The impact of the remote gambling act and its secondary legislation on the industry;
  • Responsible gaming and gambling in light of the Gambling Authority’s Duty of Care Guideline (Leidraad zorgplicht).
  • The possible implications and opportunities for Dutch gaming and lottery operators of the forthcoming legal online sport betting market.

Further information on the panels can be found here and you can re-watch them here.
