On 24 July 2019, the Dutch Ministry of Security and Justice published the draft Regulation on remote games of chance (Regeling kansspelen op afstand en Uitvoeringsregeling kansspelen), to which simultaneously a public (internet) consultation was started.
The Regulation on remote games of chance contains rules for implementing the Remote Gambling Act, which was passed by the Dutch Senate on 19 February 2019, and the Decree remote games of chance, regarding which consultations were held in the autumn of 2018 (the final version has not yet been published). In addition, the Regulation on remote games of chance will amend the Regulation recruitment, advertising and addiction prevention.
The Internet consultation will run up to and including 18 September 2019. Responses can be submitted through an online portal which can be found here.
Responses can be submitted either publicly or confidentially. Given the interrelationship between the Regulation on remote games of chance, the Remote Gambling Act and the Decree remote games of chance, it would be advisable to examine all of these documents when drafting a consultation response.
